I googled “pop culture” and this came up. Actually this came up because I googled “entertainment”.
I quite like both and I think I’ll be going with the “I’m feeling lucky” approach to images for the rest of the year because searching and formatting is such a huge time suck.
Last year – well it was last year. There was a huge dip in my consumption for a lot of different reasons we don’t need to get into here. In the spirit of the starting anew and clearing out the old I’m going to just list the movies and books of 2015. No reviews – otherwise this wouldn’t be happening at all. What I am going to do for 2016 is add the TV shows I’m watching/streaming because I am definitely watching a lot.

Out of this whole list the only entry I didn’t remember is Non-Stop. Liam Neeson is an air marshall trapped on a plane with a forgettable story line. There you have it. One big thing I check off my to do list. Happy New Year!
How did you feel about Spectre? That was my birthday movie, but it didn’t do it for me at all. I supposed anything after Skyfall would be a comedown for me.
I thought it was ok but I agree Skyfall was better. I thought the lighting on Skyfall was fantastic. And the Shanghai fight in silhouette looked super cool and was a great callback to the traditional Sexy silhouette Bond opening credits. Lea Seydoux and Bond annoyed me. I felt like they were going more hot age appropriate like with Monica Bellucci. Christoph Waltz seemed underused But it’s still better than Die Anyway there Day.
I saw Die Another Day with you!
I still appreciate Rick Yune’s diamond-encrusted face:
And agreed on the underuse of Monica Bellucci. No one can carry doomed widowhood with that level of glamour. My favorite scene in the film is of her wandering through her mansion in the dark semi-knowingly being stalked by assassins.
Did we ever discuss It Follows? I quite liked it. More unnerving than expected. Deservedly acclaimed score. Tarantino actually echoed my sentiments about some of the flaws (as he did with the movie Sunshine), but it was probably my favorite horror film of the year, not that I saw a raft of horror films.

I do not remember seeing Dir Anither Day with you! I was too distracted by Fiamond Face. I do t remember if we talked about It Follows or not. The score was so John Carpenter, nearly a rip-off. Did you see The Babadook? Maybe because I was close to my due date but it scared the shit out of me. I may have left it off my list by accident but I also watched The Descent. It also scared me shitless mostly because I’m a bit claustrophobic.
I am pretty sure that I saw Die Another Day with You. I think it was just after I had moved and on one of my first trips back into town. NB: I need to make another trip back!
I loved the score to It Follows! I listened to it on itunes quite regularly for a while, but it didn’t have quite the same effect when not paired with doomed teenagers in bleak suburban Detroit.
I tried to watch The Babadook, but it was a bit too punishing – for the lead character and for me. I ended up going to bed and trying to wash it out of my brain. Boyfriend watched it twice, however, though I can’t quite fathom why.
Never saw The Descent. That was in a period when I was working like crazy and depending on the kids to tell me what happened in all the movies. An eleven year old can really do a pretty thorough retell of a horror film. I experienced a fair amount of Korean horror via the eyes of children during this time.
